北帕学院首期英语角正式启航｜共赴国际语言交流之约

PNI(XAU) Launches Its First English Corner | A Date for International Language Exchange

9月10日，北帕默斯顿学院首期英语角活动在学院教室正式举办。为帮助同学们克服开口说英语的紧张心理、锻炼口语表达能力，学院精心筹备本次活动，特别邀请外教Rubio、Max两位老师到场指导，35名学生踊跃报名参加。活动现场气氛热烈，同学们跃跃欲试，一场关于勇气与表达的英语之旅就此开启。

On 10 September, the first English Corner of the Palmerston North Institute of Xi'an University was officially held in classrooms on the campus of Xi'an University. Designed to help students overcome their nervousness in speaking English and sharpen their oral skills, the event was carefully prepared by the Institute, which specially invited foreign teachers Rubio and Max to guide the session. Thirty-five students signed up eagerly. The classroom buzzed with energy as a journey of courage and expression began.

活动围绕贴近同学们生活的交流主题展开。开场是个人自我介绍，同学们分享自己的姓名、爱好与特点。起初，部分同学还有些紧张，声音发颤、话到嘴边又咽了回去；在Rubio、Max两位外教的耐心鼓励和同伴们真诚的掌声中，大家渐渐放下顾虑、大胆张口。随后的分组讨论与主题辩论环节，同学们分组交流观点、选派代表展示成果，老师们不时引导点拨，每位同学都完成了属于自己的“第一次全英文交流”。

The activity revolved around topics close to the students' daily lives. It opened with self-introductions, as students shared their names, hobbies and traits. At first, some still felt nervous — their voices trembling and words failing them. With the patient encouragement of Teachers Rubio and Max and the sincere applause of their classmates, everyone gradually let go of their worries and spoke up bravely. In the group discussions and themed debate that followed, students exchanged views in groups and selected representatives to present their results, while the teachers offered timely guidance. Every student completed their own first all-English exchange.

这次英语角丰富了我们的第一课堂：以前学过的英语知识，在这次活动的开口表达中得到鲜活运用——不再是纸上的单词与语法，而是你一言我一语的真实交流。听说读写全面调动，我们在交流中碰撞思想、锻炼口语，也收获了开口的自信。热烈的英语交流氛围在教室里悄然形成，让大家真切体会到：英语不是背出来的，而是说出来的。

The English Corner enriched our first-classroom learning: the English we had learned before came alive through real speaking and expression — no longer words and grammar on paper, but vivid, real-time conversation. All four skills — listening, speaking, reading and writing — were mobilized, as we exchanged ideas, sharpened our spoken English and gained the confidence to speak. A warm atmosphere of English communication quietly took shape in the classroom, reminding everyone that English is not learned by rote, but by speaking.

对我们而言，这是一次战胜自我的勇敢尝试，英语角让我们敢于开口、乐于表达，在轻松愉快的氛围中爱上了外语交流；对学院而言，英语角也是国际化人才培养的重要一环，为学子搭建了跨文化交流的实践平台。我们也希望学院能更多地举办英语角活动，让我们直面英语困难、克服困难，爱上英语；也让同学们从中感受到乐趣，从而坚持学习英语、努力学习英语。

For us, it was a brave step in conquering ourselves — the English Corner made us willing to speak and eager to express, and helped us fall in love with foreign language exchange in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. For the Institute, it is also an important part of cultivating international talents, offering students a practical platform for cross-cultural communication. We also hope the Institute will hold more English Corner activities, so that we can face the difficulties of English head-on and overcome them, and fall in love with the language; and so that students, too, can find joy in it, and thus persist in and work hard at learning English.
